Edible Garden: A Family Run Business
The Edible Garden concept was created by the Vande Vrede Family of Belvidere, New Jersey. In 1908, generations of the Vande Vrede Family migrated from Holland, the greenhouse technology capital of the world. Dave Vande Vrede along with wife Gerda, started their small family farm in 1973. Over the years the Vande Vredes have grown their family business into an operation with more than 700,000 square feet of greenhouse space and 40 acres of outdoor land at multiple locations. Consumer demand for high-quality, sustainable produce coupled with the family’s passion for responsible agriculture led to the creation of the Edible Garden brand.
Today you can find Edible Garden products in over 1,800 retailers throughout Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. Today the Vande Vrede family still operates their farms, using cutting-edge Dutch hydroponic technology.
Currently the Edible Garden product lineup consists of basil, butterhead lettuce, chives, cilantro, dill, mint, oregano, parsley, rosemary, sage, and thyme.
